Job Description

Serving Ingersoll’s lively and growing community, the Victoria Park Community Centre is seeking a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor with daytime availability to join its talented aquatics team.

Position Overview

As a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor you will be responsible for:

Ensuring the safety and well-being of all users of Victoria Park Community Pool by carrying out and enforcing all rules and regulations as set out by Board of Health and General Lifeguard Procedures of Victoria Park Community Centre.

Providing progressive swim instruction to participants as per the Aquatics Operational Manual.
Preparing lesson plans for all levels of swim instruction and ensuring appropriate documentation relevant to the position is completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
Performing all routine and assigned pool and deck maintenance duties.
Ensuring that a high standard of safety and cleanliness is maintained at all times.
Understanding and enforcing all pool rules, regulations and policies

Availability

This is a permanent part-time position entitled to work up to 24 hours in a week with minimum availability requirements of 12 hours weekly. Applicants must be available to work all shifts including daytime, evenings and weekends; however, most shifts will be scheduled during daytime hours.

Education RequirementNot Applicable Experience Requirement

Qualifications

Successful candidates must possess the following:

Current National Lifeguard Service (N.L.S.) certification. 
Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
Current Red Cross Instructors certification OR Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor.

In addition to the above-noted certifications, applicants must be able to demonstrate:

A commitment to workplace and aquatic safety.
The ability to provide effective and engaging swim instruction in a small group setting.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Salary Details

17.98/ hour
