JOB OPPORTUNITY – Museum Assistant – YCW
Beachville District Museum is hiring a part-time Museum Assistant (MA). Reporting to the Curator, the MA will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the museum site, including but not limited to, administrative duties, collections management, community outreach, social media planning, light housekeeping, and exhibit design. The Museum Assistant will work closely with the general public providing visitor information and tours. Collections research projects will also assigned by the Curator.
The successful applicant should be motivated and organized and have an interest in history, material culture, tourism or museum studies. Applicants must be enrolled in a Post-Secondary institution, and must be returning to school for the following calendar year. Preference will be given to those that have completed at least some Post-Secondary education. Public transportation is not available to the site, therefore applicants should have their own mode of transportation.
The position start date is October 26th, 2018 and continues until December 28th, 2018. The Museum Assistant will work 20 hours per week, including some weekends and holidays.

Beachville District Museum is a local history museum situated in Beachville, ON. It preserves and interprets a collection of over 15000 objects pertaining to the histories of Beachville, Zorra Township and South-West Oxford Township. The main museum building is a fieldstone and limestone house dating to 1851. There are two agricultural buildings on the 4.5-acre, park-like grounds.
