Position Description

Conversation Circles let people whose first language is not English practice and improve their English in a friendly and encouraging setting.   If you are interested in helping newcomers to Oxford County practice talking, learn about everyday Canadian culture, and connect with others, this is a great volunteer opportunity for you!

Conversation Circles are guided by an experienced facilitator and take place the 3rd Thursday of each month at 40 Metcalf St, Woodstock from 6:30 - 8pm.

Volunteers duties:

  • participate in the group conversation led by the facilitator
  • help guide conversation in smaller 'breakout' groups
  • be friendly and encouraging
  • only required to speak English (no second language skills required)

Volunteers can choose to participate monthly or occasionally as suits your schedule. Adults and Teenagers are both encouraged to volunteer, as some Conversation Circle participants come as a family.  Perfect for high school students looking to earn volunteer credit!
