Position Description

Volunteer Job Description

Title:  Driver

Department:  Health Promotion

Reports to:  Outreach Team

Purpose:  To provide timely, appropriate and safe transportation for clients and staff of the WACHC.

Primary Responsibilities 

Drive the bus to events, programs and appointments
Ensure the safety of passengers
Drive in a safe manner, in accordance with all relevant laws and regulations
Keep bus clean and presentable
Ensure safety checks are complete
Act in a courteous and professional manner

Experience

History of driving a large vehicle
Knowledge of programs & services in Oxford County and the region

Requirements

Valid ‘G’ Drivers License
Valid liability insurance
Clear driver abstract (http://www.ontario.ca/driving-and-roads/uncertified-drivers-record/#recordlist)
Satisfactory driver evaluation

Qualities

Enjoy working with others
Desire to help in the community
Works well with limited supervision as well as with a team

Responsibilities

Drive the bus in a safe manner
Follow WACHC driving policies
Drive routes as prescribed
Report any issues with the vehicle or passengers as soon as possible

Orientation/Training

Each volunteer is provided with an orientation to the WACHC as well as job-specific training.  This is as required and is mandatory for each volunteer.  Volunteer drivers require specific training, provided by the WACHC, to drive the bus.

Policies

All volunteers are required to abide by the policies of the WACHC, notably our privacy, confidentiality and conflict of interest policies.

Screening

Each volunteer is required to complete a volunteer application, a criminal record check with a Vulnerable Sector screening and follow the policies of the WACHC.

Requirements

Must be an Adult, Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Drivers License
